Dave Hyde went digging into NFL history and discovered that two victories from Shula’s time coaching the Baltimore Colts were once recognized in the NFL’s official records—only to mysteriously disappear years later.
The wins came in the old Playoff Bowl, and Dave found NFL record books showing that they continued to count long after the game itself was discontinued. Then, in 1982, they vanished from the official statistics.
So Dave started investigating—tracking down old record books, talking with former officials, and reaching out to the NFL and its Competition Committee in search of an answer.
